Nathan Brake “Australian Idol” Top 6 Video | Talented Teen Wo

Just when it seemed Australian Idol was a two-horse race comes this knock-out performance from Nathan Brake. Nathan’s always been my sentimental favorite; the talented and effeminate teenager with the killer set of pipes. He hasn’t always hit the mark, but when he does it’s magical.

50 ton-whale exploded, sopping streets in guts

A whale intended for research exploded on a Taiwanese street in 2004, soaking passersby in blood and guts. The sperm whale, which had died on the beach and was being transported through Tainan for study, burst because of gases building up in its body from decomposition. It soaked several cars and curious pedestrians nearby, forcing residents and business owners to wear masks to clean up the debris. The whale weighed 50 tons and was 55 feet long, making it the largest ever found in Taiwan. It was taken to a Tainan university, which sent it on to the Shi-Tsao natural preserve for study. The whale’s girth took 13 hours, three large lifting cranes and 50 workers to get the creature on trailer truck for its final trip. Despite the mammal’s grisly explosion, enough of the whale remained for it to be researched by marine biologists.

During one day you will experience 16 sunrises

The sun rises and sets every 90 minutes in low Earth orbit, making it really hard to sleep well due to the absence of normal day/night cycles. To counteract this, ISS administrators set astronauts’ schedules on a 24-hour, Earth-based timetable to keep their activity as grounded as possible. The clocks onboard the ISS are set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), about halfway between Houston, Tex., and Moscow. To keep astronauts on that schedule, Mission Control sends wake-up calls to shuttle missions. They typically play music, which is either requested by an astronaut or an astronaut’s family member. Astronauts on the ISS, on the other hand, wake up with the help of an alarm.

Under-Ease pants: designed to hide the smell of farts

According to Under-Tec’s president and inventor Buck Weimer, the Under-Ease is an underwear that provides “protection” against human gas. The weird product, designed by this American manufacturer, has a built-in multi-layered, replaceable filter made of felt, charcoal and fibreglass wool. To prevent gases escaping without passing through it, the underpants are made from air-tight fabric and completely sealed with elastic around the waistband and legs. They are supposed to be worn at anytime, anywhere –in bed, at work and at social events, professional meetings and so on. The pants are machine washable and the filters can last for weeks, even months, depending on the frequency of use and laundering. The pants are available on the firm’s website in a range of sizes and cost from £12 to £15. Why not user a diaper instead?

There are more than 300 members of the parrot family and many of them, from the large macaw to the budgerigar (budgie Parakeets), make wonderful pets.  Parrots are very social birds and they love to explore and, of course, “talk.”  But anyone who owns a pet parrot knows that these highly intelligent birds need a lot of interaction, companionship, and challenging toys to keep them happy and healthy.

The 2010 Grammys seemed more like a 3 1/2 hour concert than it did an award show. For those that missed it, or those that just want to see an encore, there were five performances that stood out from the others (20 in total). As an ‘invention” news site, InventorSpot  is known for finding the best of the best, and these TV performances were the most ‘inventive’ I have seen in a long time. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see the big winners of the night listed (namely Beyoncé and Taylor Swift).
